Question 1

In a row of 49 people, Sia is 14th from the front and Anita is 38th from the front. How many people are between them?
Between B = (rank of second - rank of first - 1) = 38 - 14 - 1 = 23.

Question 2

In a class of 69 students, there are 37 boys and 32 girls. Gaurav ranks 16th from the top. There are 9 girls before him. How many boys are after his rank (towards the bottom)?
Students before him: 15. Of these, girls before = 9, so boys before = 15 - 9 = 6. Boys after = total boys - boys before - himself = 37 - 6 - 1 = 30.

Question 3

In a class of 29 students, Kunal ranks 12th from the top. How many students are behind Kunal?
Students behind = total - rank = 29 - 12 = 17.

Question 4

In a row of 33 students, Ravi's rank from the right end is 29. What is Ravi's rank from the left end?
The total number of people T = 33. Rank from left L = T - R + 1 = 33 - 29 + 1 = 5. So, Ravi's rank from the left is 5.

Question 5

In a row of 51 people, A is 9th from the left. After interchanging positions with B, A becomes 17th from the left. B originally was 18th from the right. What is A's new rank from the right?
After interchange, A's new left rank is 17. So A's new right rank = total - new_left + 1 = 51 - 17 + 1 = 35.

Question 6

In a class of 33 students, Kunal ranks 12th from the top. How many students are behind Kunal?
Students behind = total - rank = 33 - 12 = 21.

Question 7

In an exam, 58 students appeared. 4 students scored the same marks and secured the 45th rank. How many students scored more than them?
Even though 4 students share the rank, the number of students who scored more is still rank - 1 = 45 - 1 = 44.

Question 8

In a queue, Mohan is 20th from the front and Manav is 18th from the back. If there are 29 people in the queue, how many people are standing between Mohan and Manav?
Overlapping case because r1 + r2 = 38 > total 29. Between B = (r1 + r2) - total - 2 = 38 - 29 - 2 = 7.

Question 9

20 people are sitting around a circular table. Person A is at position 12 and Person B is at position 5 (when numbered clockwise from 1 to 20). What is the minimum number of people between A and B?
Clockwise distance: 13 steps, Anti-clockwise: 7 steps. Minimum people between = min(13, 7) - 1 = 6.

Question 10

In a row, A and B interchange positions. After interchange, A is 15th from left and B is 24th from left. If originally A was 9th from left, how many people are in the row?
Distance A moved = 6 positions. B moved same distance, so B's original position = 18. Total = B's original left position + (new_left_A - 1) = 30

Question 11

In a queue, Lata is 19th from the front and Manav is 22th from the back. If there are 9 people standing between them, what is the total number of people in the queue?
Overlapping case: Total T = (r1 + r2) - B - 2 = 41 - 9 - 2 = 30.

Question 12

In a row, A and B interchange positions. After interchange, A is 13th from left and B is 21th from left. If originally A was 6th from left, how many people are in the row?
Distance A moved = 7 positions. B moved same distance, so B's original position = 14. Total = B's original left position + (new_left_A - 1) = 28

Question 13

In a row of 44 students, A is 34th from the left and S is 39th from the left. Who is ahead of whom?
Since 34 < 39, A is ahead (to the left) of S.

Question 14

In a row, Amit is 10th from the left and Tarun is 23th from the right. They interchange their positions. Now, Amit becomes 15th from the left. What is Tarun's new rank from the right?
First find total: T = 15 + 23 - 1 = 37. After interchange, Tarun takes Amit's old position from left (10). So Tarun's rank from right = T - 10 + 1 = 37 - 10 + 1 = 28.

Question 15

In an exam, 83 students appeared. Neha secured 77th rank. What percentage of students are behind Neha?
Students behind = 6. Percentage = (6/83) × 100 = 7.2%

Question 16

In a queue, Mohan is 19th from the front and Nisha is 23th from the back. If there are 35 people in the queue, how many people are standing between Mohan and Nisha?
Overlapping case because r1 + r2 = 42 > total 35. Between B = (r1 + r2) - total - 2 = 42 - 35 - 2 = 5.

Question 17

21 people are sitting around a circular table. Person A is at position 3 and Person B is at position 11 (when numbered clockwise from 1 to 21). What is the minimum number of people between A and B?
Clockwise distance: 8 steps, Anti-clockwise: 13 steps. Minimum people between = min(8, 13) - 1 = 7.

Question 18

In an exam, 116 students appeared. Neha secured 84th rank. What percentage of students are behind Neha?
Students behind = 32. Percentage = (32/116) × 100 = 27.6%

Question 19

In a row, Neel is 6th from the left and Sara is 28th from the right. If Sara is 9th from the left, how many people are there in the row?
Using T = L + R - 1 with Sara's left rank 9 and right rank 28: T = 9 + 28 - 1 = 36.

Question 20

In a row of 34 people, Tanvi is 12th from the front and Dev is 24th from the front. How many people are between them?
Between B = (rank of second - rank of first - 1) = 24 - 12 - 1 = 11.
