Testing x = 5: middle = 490 ÷ (2 × 5²) = 7
Therefore, eldest = 14

Question 4

After 6 years: 2/3x + 6 = 3/4(x + 6)
Solving gives x = 18, so Jahnavi = 12

Question 5

Currently, Sanyam is 1/2 of Tristan's age. After 9 years, Sanyam will be 2/3 of Tristan's age. Find Sanyam's present age.
Let Tristan = x, then Sanyam = 1/2x
After 9 years: 1/2x + 9 = 2/3(x + 9)
Solving gives x = 36, so Sanyam = 18

Question 6

Currently, Shivani is 2/5 of Giselle's age. After 10 years, Shivani will be 1/2 of Giselle's age. Find Shivani's present age.
Let Giselle = x, then Shivani = 2/5x
After 10 years: 2/5x + 10 = 1/2(x + 10)
Solving gives x = 50, so Shivani = 20
